Since March 21, Ukrainian missiles and drone attacks have damaged or sunk about four landing ships, three patrol boats and the cruiser Moskva, the Black Sea Fleet flagship, which sank in April, according to Ukrainian defense ministry announcements and data aggregated by the Istanbul-based ship blog Turkishnavy.net.

And it's a staggering figure as well. According to the Dutch warfare research group Oryx, Russia has lost 1,450 tanks since the war began, nearly 900 of which have been damaged or destroyed. The rest were abandoned by the Russians, and many of those ultimately have since been captured by the Ukrainians.
Based on these estimates, Russia has lost nearly 1,300 tanks – an impressive 40% of its total operational tank fleet.

Can Ukraine sink Russian Black Sea Fleet?
Ukrainians were able to sink Russia's Black Sea Fleet flagships RTS Moskva (121) and regain Snake Island, which helped prevent Russia from doing an amphibious assault on Odesa, she said. Attacking the Saky Airbase in Crimea also hurt the Russian Navy's ability to attack other countries.

The ballistic mode of attack isn't very accurate, but it helps 'copter crews to survive. Indeed, Ukraine has lost just 12 helicopters since Russia widened its war on the country back in February. Russia has lost 52 of its own, higher-flying helicopters.

These tanks are only used in NATO by their respective countries. There are roughly 200 tanks in service for each tank type, making a total of 800, plus roughly 1500 Leopard 2's and roughly 2500 M1 Abrams. The majority are M1A2's and the rest M1A1's.

2014—2022. After the Maidan revolution and the subsequent Russian annexation of Crimea, Ukrainian authorities greatly cut the volume of water flowing into Crimea via the canal, citing a huge outstanding debt on water supplies owed by the peninsula.

So why can't the US Navy can't send an Aircraft Carrier into the Black Sea to protect Romania and NATO merchant ships or help Ukraine? According to a UN Treaty, they are too big and heavy.
Instead of multiple watertight doors that can be slammed shut when a ship is at general quarters (all hands manning their battle stations), Russian ships have little ability to divide up internally — making them far more vulnerable to what is called “progressive flooding,” a euphemism for sinking.

There's only one way in and out of the Black Sea. Russia regularly sends its ships and submarines in and out of the sea, surging forces there or sending its Black Sea Fleet into the Mediterranean Sea for local operations.
Does Russia have a navy in the Black Sea?
The commanders of the Russian navy's Black Sea Fleet are scared to send their surviving surface warships beyond sight of the Crimean coast. It's not hard to understand why. In keeping 20 miles or so from Crimea, the ships can stay under the protective umbrella of ground-based air-defenses.
Ukraine has lost equipment, too, but not nearly as much, owing to its relative lack of hardware, careful protection of what it does possess, and the defensive nature of its war thus far: 1,627 pieces, including 267 tanks and 244 infantry fighting vehicles, as per Oryx.
“Two Ka-52s were destroyed at the airfield in the Pskov region, and two more were seriously damaged,” the intel agency claimed Monday. It's impossible to verify the agency's assertion.

WASHINGTON — Russia's war in Ukraine has left more than 100,000 of Moscow's troops dead or wounded, and Ukraine has probably suffered a similar number of casualties, the United States' most senior general said this week.

The fleet itself — made up of small missile-laden corvettes and frigates, landing craft and six submarines — still has over 30 ships at sea or in port, but their effectiveness and ability to maneuver has been severely hampered after Moskva's air defenses and the radar screen provided by Snake Island were eliminated.

There are numerous reports indicating that thousands of tanks in this large fleet may not be in an operational status, a fact which makes Ukraine's destruction of 2,000 tanks extremely impactful.
